How to make your photo more detailed
You had the perfect shot, perfect angle but checking the photo at your home, somehow, it lacks life and details. Now how can I correct this, you may think?
For this correction, I used Adobe Lightroom. You can try the free trial here http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom.html. Or you can also download the free application on your iPhone. After downloading it on your computer, launch it and click "Library" on the upper part of screen just like in the photo below.
Then, click Import at the lower part of the screen. Select a source and click add and it will appear in your library. Now click the the added photo in the Lightroom library, not the photo in Navigator. but in the Library filter. Then click develop at the upper part of the screen. For this example, I downloaded a door picture at Pixabay. On the right part of your screen, you will see the adjustment sliders. I tweaked the exposure slider to the left to -0.48 to adjust the overall exposure of the photo. Contrast to about +24, lessen the highlights to -24 and the wall and door get more detailed. I tweaked the shadows to +36. Now to add more details on the flooring, I adjusted the clarity to +19 and vibrance to +12. Feel free to experiment on the sliders. Now Clarity is good especially in landscapes but usually not on a face of a person cause' it tends to highlight any imperfection one might have. At this instance, the picture looks like these.
To compare the original photo and what we have edited, click on the icon at the lower part of the screen as shown below:
You will see the before and after of the picture just like in the opening picture of this article. To go back to single view, just click the box icon on the left of the before and after view icon.
For the Adobe Lightroom for the iPhone, you can try to download and launch it. Add photo by clicking on the camera roll below the screen and swipe to select a photo from your device. It will be then added to your Lightroom on your iPhone. Click the photo on the Lightroom library and tap the edit icon on the lower part of the screen. For this example, I adjusted it almost the same with what I did on the computer although its a bit more tedious to do the adjustment on the cellphone. The adjusted photo in an iPhone is shown below:
